August 18, 1942 General Bissell becomes Commanding General Tenth Air Force, relieving General Naiden who now devotes full time to command of India-China Ferry Command.
August 18, 1942 For second consecutive day a single B-17 attacks Kavieng. Bombs fall in airfield dispersal area.
